Undress Runways started out as a runway show to to help local sustainable designers get their name out there. From there it has grown to support designers across Australia and is hosted in 3 cities; Brisbane, Melbourne and the Gold Coast in April 2014.
Our runway shows are a unique. First-timers at an Undress Runways show can expect an exciting night of entertainment – think a three-part runway show, live music and organic cocktails, all housed in a completely unique setting; a transformed multi-level car park turned into an avant-garde, underground fashion scene.
We had over 800 guests attend Undress Brisbane 2013.
We’re about creating a social shift in society; educating and inspiring people to choose ethical and environmentally friendly clothes. We do this by creating an engaging runway event experience. We educate our guests on how the catwalk garments are sustainable (see image below), we choose beautiful fashion that cuts through stigmas attached to sustainable fashion and we involve the community as much as we can.
Not only will you see local designers on the runway but also art exhibitions from local eco artists. We work with industry leaders – Simon McRae, from Ethical Clothing Australia, spoke at our Brisbane show. And we also ran a sustainable fashion pop-up shop in October 2013 to provide people with easy access to sustainable fashion.
We are quickly raising the profile of sustainable fashion but we still have a long way to go.
My goal is to see Undress Runways go international, making waves in the major fashion capitals of the world.
